Google My Business is a service provided by Google that generates information from three major Google services which include: Google Search, Maps and Google+. The purpose of this service is allowing users to create an online identity for their business, which ultimately helps customers find them online.

Theory

Google My Business connects Search, Maps and Google+ in order to help users find businesses online. Integration of these three services enables you to increase visibility of your company on the Internet. If you have used Google Places for Business in the past, your account is automatically updated to Google My Business.

If your business has more than 10 locations, you get access to Google My Business Locations, allowing you to upload and edit each of the locations.

Signing up for Google My Business is free. All you have to do is to use “Get on Google” button to sign up and follow the instructions by providing the information about your business. Have in mind that no information will be visible until you verify your business.

Guidelines

* The following terms, in addition to the Google Terms of Service (“Google ToS”) and the Google+ Pages Additional Terms, govern your use of Google My Business or any service for Google My Business verified businesses.

* Age and Relationship

You must be above the legal age of majority (or above the age of 18, whichever is higher) to use these services. In addition, you confirm that you are the owner of the entity listed on the page or an authorized agent who is able to bind others on behalf of the entity.

* Binding Others

Similar to the requirement in the Google+ Pages Additional Terms, you must bind any users that manage or subsequently own your page to these Additional Terms before making them managers or owners.

* Content

You are responsible for the entity listed on your page. In particular, this means that you must comply with all applicable laws and industry best practices when operating and promoting your entity, including obtaining all applicable licenses and approvals; ensure your content is lawful, correct, up-to-date and complete; and supply all required disclaimers, warnings, and notices (or if you rely on any supplied by Google, ensure their sufficiency for your entity).
