Pinterest is a social networking website for sharing images, called “pins”, organized in Pinterest boards which are sorted by theme or topic. Sharing visual content can help you get exposure for your brand. You can discover new content and connect with interesting people.

Theory

Pinterest is a visual-bookmarking website for sharing collection of images (pins) on special Pinterest boards. Users can upload, share, sort and manage images and videos saved on their pinboards.

After a user adds a certain image to one of the boards, which usually represents a certain topic, such as travel, cooking, books, etc., other users can repin the image, meaning the image will be pinned to some else’s board. The information about who originally pinned the image is still available once the user clicks on the image.

Besides pinning images, users can pin links as well, which is why the website is suitable for organizing projects and saving resources. First launched in 2010, the website now has over 70 million users worldwide.
